black powder woods walk

March 8, 2026, 11:30 a.m.

What is a Woods Walk?  It is an easy walking, through-the-woods course with 20 steel reactive targets at ranges varying from 15 to 85 yards. It is shot strictly for fun; the only prizes are “bragging rights”.  You will need enough supplies to fire 20 shots.


Recommended firearm for Woods Walk use:  Flintlock or Percussion long gun rifled or smoothbore, with open sights, using black powder, and patched round balls.


$10.00 per shooter.  Ages under 18 shoot for free.  Spectators are welcome.


Registration opens at 11:30 AM, and the Woods Walk begins promptly at Noon.  The Woods Walk will normally end by 3 PM.  There is no food available at these events, so please eat lunch before attending.  


Preregistration is not required for this event.

Introduction to the ar-15

Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.

Classroom only; instructor-led PowerPoint presentation highlighting the  history and popularity of the AR-15; parts, features, and functions;  overview of cleaning and maintenance; accessorizing the AR-15; and  basics about using the AR-15 for home defense.

Introduction to the ar-15, Part 1

Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.

The level 1 class teaches the proper use and operation of the AR-15  rifle, maintaining kinesthetic alignment while establishing 4 points of  contact with the rifle, understanding and applying mechanical offset,  emergency and tactical reloads, and balancing speed and precision while  shooting.


This class is a prerequisite for Introduction to the AR-15, Part 2

PA Firearms law class

Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.

This program addresses Chapter Five of  the PA Crimes Code, Rules of Criminal Procedure, Rules of Evidence and  how it relates to the use of physical force up to and including deadly  force when we have to defend ourselves, others, home, property,  vehicles, and  public places. 

Introduction to the ar-15, Part 2

Sunday, March 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. OR May 24, 2026 at 12:00 p.m.

AR-15 Fundamentals 1 is a required prerequisite for this class. 


New  concepts are introduced such as developing shot cadence, bringing  defensive context into your training along while building a standard  defensive response, and learning to clear type 1, type 2, and type 3  malfunctions.

Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.

Civilian Marksmanship Program Shoot


What you'll need:

  • Rifle with sling
  • Eye and Ear Protection
  • 100 rounds of ammo
  • Shooting mat for prone position
  • Spotting scope (optional)
  • $10 event fee


Program:

  • 20 shots Slow-fire Standing
  • 20 shots Rapid-fire  kneeling/sitting
  • 20 shots Rapid-fire  prone
  • 20 shots Slow-fire  prone


CMP veterans and newcomers are welcome.

Instructions will be given at the event.

Women’s self-defense training aims to arm women with the skills to  avoid, interrupt and resist assault. By investing in self-defense  training, women equip themselves with invaluable skills and techniques  that can have a profound impact on their lives.

draw from concealment

Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 8:00 a.m.

Participants will learn essential safety points and how to quickly draw  concealed firearms from various clothing. The focus is on reactionary  performance in a stressful situation. The class time is spent in the  classroom and on the firing range.

Saturday, April, 11, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.

In this class, students will learn everything they need to know about  handguns including their components and function, ammunition, factors to  consider when selecting a handgun, and defensive shooting  considerations along with proper stance, grip, and aiming techniques. No  range time/live fire.

Handgun Fundamentals, Part 1

Handgun Fundamentals 1 is for both beginners and those who have never  had formal handgun instruction. This course will provide students with  the necessary foundation to confidently handle and operate a handgun.  The course takes place entirely on the range.

Saturday, May, 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.

Building on Handgun Fundamentals 1, this live-fire class introduces more  defensive shooting concepts and incorporates additional skills such as  working from an outside the waistband holster, performing emergency and  tactical reloads, and malfunction drills.

Fun Pistol & Carbine Shoots

Our Fun Pistol and Carbine Shoots consist of three events. We have a BASICS Fun Pistol Shoot, a Fun Pistol Shoot, and a Fun Carbine Shoot. The Basics is an introductory event designed to introduce participants to the more advanced regular Pistol Shoot. All three events consist of challenging scenarios that usually involve a variety of steel targets. The Carbine Shoot is similar but allows the use of pistol-caliber rifles.

In this course you will learn how, why, and when to use pepper spray in various situations. What are the physical and physiological effects pepper spray has on individuals. How to deploy pepper spray utilizing a variety of delivery systems. Laws pertaining to possession.

Trap Shoots are held April through October on the last Friday of the month. Open to all skill levels.

We are part of the national CMP organization and offer shoots based on their protocol. These events are open to anyone to shoot military style firearms from standing, prone, and sitting positions.

Low Light & Night Shoots

Low Light Shoots challenge the participant to make accurate shots in poor lighting by using techniques and equipment to enhance accuracy.


Low-light shoots are scheduled Spring and early Summer when days are longer. The Night Shoots are scheduled during months with early darkness.

This class is scheduled annually, usually in January.

This program, scheduled in April or May, introduces women to shooting and archery sports in a safe, low-pressure environment. Participants will try .22 rifles and pistols, 20-gauge shotguns, and archery.

 The Silhouette Shoot is a ten-target shooting event using steel targets. Optics are permitted.
